natural healing resources

The spa has mountainous, moderately stimulating climate with a toning effect which results from the higher altitude where the O2 tension is reduced and sunlight intensity is stronger. The air is rather chilly, but the location excludes stronger winds. It is characterised by notable differences in temperature between days and nights that have a significant stimulating effect on the organism and its thermo-regulating system. Air is clear, nearly free of allergens, and thus suitable for those suffering from allergies or respiratory diseases. It also has beneficial effects on people with impaired immunity against infections, hypochromic anaemia, neuroses, neurovegetative dystonia and non-fixed hypertensions.

Indications

The beneficial climatic conditions, beautiful mountainous nature and advanced methods of treatment provide efficient conditions for treatment of the above non-tuberculosis-related respiratory diseases (bronchial asthma , chronic bronchititis), post-surgery conditions following surgeries of both the upper and lower respiratory tracts and lungs, hypertrophic and atrophic changes of the upper respiratory tract, allergic rhinitis, ozaena, the above mentioned occupational diseases, such as ionising radiation, etc.

Contraindications

Infectious diseases; acute stage diseases; cancer; epilepsy except where no attack has occurred during the last three years; more severe psychoses; mental disorders with strong habits; urinary/faecal incontinence, night enuresis; treatment-resistant skin ulcers; active TB; hypertension - diastolic pressure over 120Hg; cardiac decompensation.

Treatment

The basis of the treatment is climatotherapy, combined with inhalation therapy, balneotherapy, light therapy, electrotherapy, therapeutic physical exercises, lymph drainage and massages.

spa therapy

Air-jetted bath

A combination of water bath and massage using air which is forced by pressure into the bath. The air flow intensity can be regulated. The therapy is recommended for insomnia, neuroses from exhaustion, for women in menopause, etc.

CASCADE whirlpool bath

A gentle massage with whirling water, applied partially on either the upper or the lower extremities. It contributes to improved blood supply to the extremities, activates skin receptors, and relaxes muscle and joint stiffness.

Canadian bath

Spa bath

The pools are designed for regenerative bathing of several persons, especially whole families, at a time. The bath has wholesome effects on a human organism. The combination of hot water with sub-water and air-jet massages helps to relieve stress, tension and pain. In few minutes it is able to perfectly regenerate both body and mind in persons with seated jobs, those working physically, or suffering from motor system disorders or backache, as well as athletes or families with children. All of them will find relief, comfort and recovery of both physical and mental strength.

Alternate stream douche

A treatment with a strong hydrotherapeutic and irritating (stimulating) effects. Alternating hot and cold directed jets of water are applied onto the body, which causes irritation and blood perfusion in the skin, with effects on the muscles and refectory effects on the central nervous system.

Kneipp foot bath

Active stepping in one place in bath trays, one with a temperate of 40 - 46 degrees and the other 10 - 16 degrees. The water column height is 20 - 25cm. The bath always ends in the cold tray. The treatment improves blood perfusion in the extremities as well as local metabolism, activates skin receptors and has a calming effect.

massages

Classical massage

The massage improves blood perfusion in the skin, subcutaneous layers and muscles, helps relax stiffened and aching muscles, and contributes to improved removal of waste substances from the organism. In simple words, regular classical massages may help improve elasticity of your skin and prevent pain often resulting from muscle stiffness - such as in the nape, between the shoulder blades and in the cross bone.

Reflex massage

A massage of the reflex zones in connective tissues. The massage is done manually (mostly with fingertips) without any massaging means, with application of pressure into different depths of the subcutanous ligaments in points that have undergone a secondary, reflex change. The reflex massage has effects on the vegetative efferent paths, reaching to the viscero-cutanoeus reflexes.

Sub-water massage

The massage is done in a hydro-massage bath by way of manual application or with the aid of a single nozzle. It is most efficient for post-traumatic conditions, muscle stiffness and conditions after motor system surgeries, for patients suffering from nervous disorders, paralysis, muscle pain, as well as chronic constipation.

Electro-massages

These are applied as a means of relaxation; they help relaxation of muscles and promotion of blood circulation in muscles, relaxation of the spine, feet, etc.

Up

Sauna

A heat-based treatment based on alternation of thermal stimuli, which is applied to improve the response to the cold and metabolism, promote immunologic processes, remove toxic products of metabolism, and relax skeletal muscles. Sauna also completely eliminates mites.

HEALTHCARE AND REHABILITATION

Inhalation therapy

Inhalation therapy is based on penetration of aerosol particles into the upper and lower respiratory tracts. Inhalation promotes expectoration and the self-cleaning capacity of the respiratory tracts, and moistening of mucous membranes in the respiratory tracts in case of atrophic inflammation.

Means used in the inhalation therapy:

  • Healing waters (VINCENTKA),
  • Mucolytic agents (AMBROBENE, MUCOSOLVAN),
  • CALCIUM

Oxygenotherapy

Inhalation of air with 40 – 60 % oxygen enrichment, adequately moistened to prevent drying-out of mucous membranes. Air is inhaled through a nasal catheter. The therapy is applied in conditions involving reduced contents of oxygen in the organism (hypoxia), chronic respiratory tract diseases, cardiac diseases (ICHS), lungs damaged by exposure to dust or chemicals.

Cryogenic bags

The response to the cold, that is action of hormones, reduced conductivity of nerves and relaxation of muscles, leads to significant reduction of the subjective sensation of pain, which is particularly beneficial in treatment of motor system disorders, rheumatic and inflammatory diseases of joints, as well as in correction of post-traumatic conditions.

Gas injections

Subcutaneous application of a small dose of medicinal carbon dioxide through a thin needle. Gas injections improve nutrition of tissues and both general and local blood circulation; have anti-inflammatory effects which, combined with the better blood supply, help accelerate the tissue recovery process. They are used in pain syndrome conditions; influence the muscle tension and trigger points; they act via the reflex path in patients with ISCH or after myocardic infarction.

Electrotherapy

Ultrasound therapy

Ultrasound therapy is based on conversion of electric energy of high-frequency current to ultrasound energy (mechanical and thermal energy). Effects are realised through a micro-massage of tissues which are heated at the same time. This improves tissue resorbtion, blood supply and metabolism, with faster recovery as a result.

TENS /transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation/

This is a form of low-frequency therapy aimed at pain suppression. The essence is targeted stimulation of neural structures that have inhibiting effects on the transmission and processing of painful stimuli. Amplitude-modulated TENS may be used for electrogymnastics to reinforce weakened muscles.

Diadynamic currents

The therapy relies on frequency-modulated, low-frequency pulse currents. Their general effects include: analgesic effect, promoted blood supply, energising. They are applied in acute conditions.

Interference currents

The therapy relies on medium-frequency currents that have irritating effects on neuromuscular tissues. Their advantage lies in that they easily overcome the skin resistance, with tissues having a high level of tolerance to minor sensitive irritation. These currents have a significant analgesic effect, and resorbtion and relaxing effect, and improve blood circulation. They are applied in chronic conditions.

Pulse therapy

This therapy uses effects of precisely shaped current pulses with either steep or gradual outset. Effects: motoric muscle irritation, improved blood supply, analgesic effect.

Rebox

Rebox Physio is and electrotherapy device relying on rectangular pulses with a frequency of 2-4 Hz. Rebox currents are applied transcutaneously by touch of a therapeutic electrode. The application time is 3-5 seconds per point. During just a few seconds the local oxidisation in the treated area is corrected which results in an analgesic effect, improved blood and lymph micro-circulation and an apparent myorelaxation effect.

Magnetotherapy

The therapy uses an alternating magnetic field which has analgesic, myorelaxation and anti-dermatitis effects; accelerates healing of soft tissues and fractures. Its advantage lies in that it can be applied even to points with metal elements (after orthopaedic surgeries or fracture surgeries).

light therapy

Solux

This relies on thermal effects of locally applied infrared radiation. The treatment has beneficial effects in patients with rhinitis, sinusitis, etc. It is normally applied from a distance of 50 cm for 10-15 minutes.

Bioptron

A Bioptron lamp is a source of healing biostimulating light which is based on the principle of polarisation of light irradiated by a halogen lamp. Bioptron lamp (biolamp) generates polarised radiation which is polychromatic and entirely free of the ultraviolet component. The light promotes the control processes at the tissue and cell levels, retards pathological and degenerative processes in cells and accelerates metabolic processes.

Thermotherapy

Hot pack

The application of positive thermotherapy relies primarily on a myorelaxation effect and a spasmolytic effect when the relief of spasms and improved circulation produce also an analgesic effect.

Peat packs

Peat is composed of over a hundred plants living in fertile soil and is a product of their decomposition. Peat contains countless nutrients and natural trace elements and minerals, and substances easily penetrating into the skin. Thanks to its composition, peat improves blood circulation, muscle and joint function, promotes faster absorption of blood effusions as well as healing of severe skin eczemas, improves the cellulite condition of the skin, and many others.

Therapeutic physical exercises

A special therapy based on physical exercises as a means to recover impaired patient's motoric functions. We use various special techniques - Kaltenborn exercises, spinal exercises, individual and group breathing exercises, exercises that are suitable for patients suffering from asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Mobilisation therapy

This is a manual medicine means used to treat functional joint blockages which are painful, have limiting effects on movements and give rise to further pathologic reflex changes, painful spots, hyperallergic zones and muscular spasms. The therapy is aimed at relaxation of the motor system or recovery of the joint play, as well as correction of muscular tension and treatment of the trigger points. Mobilisation contributes to moderation of blockages before the subsequent manipulation, or results in direct relaxation of blockages.

Soft techniques

This is a special manual medicine method influencing reflex changes in muscles and the subcutaneous layer in order to reduce painfulness and muscular tension. It relies on certain techniques that partially resemble certain massage (particularly reflex massage) elements.

Tractions

Passive treatment involving action of mechanical force which causes centrifugal traction in the spine or root joint axis or extension in the axis of an extremity. The traction force acts principally only at the level of soft tissues of the motor system (muscles, ligaments, tendons, joint capsules).

The traction may be induced either manually by another person or mechanically.

Lymph drainage

The therapist applies pressure with his/her hand to mechanical induce hyperaemia and toning in the area on an upper or lower extremity being massaged, which is followed by application of a special bandage. Before the first treatment and after the last treatment, a specifically trained person carries out measurements of the affected extremity, and these are subsequently compared and evaluated to determine the lymph fluid drainage performance. Resulting effects include reduced muscular spasticity, improved lymph drainage, remission of tumefaction, improved blood supply to extremities, fast removal of fatigue and waste substances from cells and intracellular space. Contraindications: tumefaction due to kidney, heart, liver diseases.
